Linking

Below are the pre-requisites for linking your server to The Atrum IRC Network.

  1. This server must run a unix or linux operating system, preferrably the FreeBSD -STABLE branch.
  2. You must know how FreeBSD jails work and configure a dedicated jail for your link.
  3. You must have permission from your upstream provider to host an IRC server.
  4. The server must be firewalled, disallow ICMP / UDP and only permit traffic on IRC ports.
  5. Your server must NOT run any other network services apart from the IRCD and SSHD.
  6. You must be prepared to give full access to this dedicated jail to the senior network operators.
  7. Your uplink provider needs to supply at least 64kb/s constant bandwidth and a minimum of 1mbit bursts to your server.
  8. Your uplink provider needs to be prepared to null route your ip address in the event of a DDoS attack against our network.
  9. The server admin of your server must choose at least one technical contact who has the knowledge and access to your server, either you or your chosen technical contact must be in a position to make any requested changes or updates on your server within 48 hours.
  10. You are required to join the Atrum Staff Mailing list, and check this account at least once a day, every day.
  11. Should the Atrum Routing Comittee grant a link, your server will be joined to the network in quarantine mode (No global O:lines will be honoured during this time) for 2 weeks. After two weeks, if your server has passed the Atrum Routing Committee's tests, the quarantine flag will be removed and your server will be fully linked. From that point your server is still on probation for a further month, during this time either party can terminate the link with an acceptable amount of notice.
  12. Your server will be required to use our approved list of IRCD software and modules, no additional modules may be installed on your server without authorization from the Routing Committee or Atrum Network Administration.
  13. Any further queries about your link can be addressed to our network staff - support@atrum.org

If you have met ALL the above pre-requisites and are ready to contact us about your link, please send an email to support@atrum.org containing all the details of your link and a set time when you will be online to discuss.
